She\u2019s passionate about helping others affected by PAH and focused on helping the medical community by participating in clinical trials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Patient volunteers like Brunetti are central to the success of clinical trials. She said it\u2019s vital to be open and understanding of the impact clinical trial participation may have not only on yourself, but also those around you. She added that talking, asking questions and learning more about the benefits and risks of a clinical trial is critical.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe work as a team together to decide if a clinical trial, or anything that I need, is in my best interest,\u201d she said. \u201cNo matter what you go through, there\u2019s going to be changes. Having heart-to-heart conversations about what that looks like and what might need to be adjusted is really important.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Brunetti considered when joining a clinical trial<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Brunetti said she encourages anyone considering joining a clinical trial to understand that \u201cyour doctor has to be your teammate.\u201d She said questions will come up, like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Will I receive the medicine or the placebo?<\/li><li>What kind of side effects might I anticipate?<\/li><li>How am I going to manage this?<\/li><li>What happens if there&#8217;s an emergency?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf it&#8217;s not for you, that&#8217;s OK,\u201d she said. \u201cBut if you can, I would encourage people to jump in with eyes wide open.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why it\u2019s so important to participate in clinical trials<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vip2-msd.com\/merckcom-migrated\/research\/diversity-in-clinical-trials\/\">Clinical trials<\/a> are research studies with volunteers designed to learn more about how our bodies respond to medicines, vaccines, medical devices or other treatments. It may take many clinical trials to understand which treatments work and how they work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-heading\">Are you thinking about joining a
